High turbidity levels brought on by the heavy rain yesterday have prompted a water quality advisory in Prince Rupert.
An advisory is the lowest level of notification, and is a precautionary measure to protect the most at risk individuals.
Pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and anyone with a compromised immune system are advised to boil water for one minute before using it for drinking, cleaning food, or brushing teeth.
Public facilities are required to post notice of the advisory at all publicly accessible sinks and drinking fountains.
Northern Health is conducting further testing and will notify the public when turbidity levels return to normal.
