An LNG project planned for Kitimat has now submitted its application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate.
Cedar LNG is a proposed floating LNG facility planned to operate directly across the Douglas Channel from Kitimaat Village.
Last month, the project’s application received screening approval to be submitted for detailed review.
However, the provincial-level screening did reveal a few areas of the application which could be expanded upon in the final application.
Those included: assessment and mitigation of air quality impacts, acoustic impacts, effects from project related marine activities, management plans, local infrastructure impacts, and impacts on community well-being.
Now, the Haisla Nation-owned project has submitted their application, kicking off a new 6 month review process.
In addition, an agreement has been made with Samsung Heavy Industries and Black and Veatch for engineering and design work.
