According to a study that was released earlier today, BC’s renewable and low carbon gas supply may end up doubling it’s use by the time 2050 comes around.
This joint study, which was done by the provincial government, BC Bioenergy Network and FortisBC Energy Inc, looks at the importance of these gases in the future of BC when it comes to meeting the CleanBC Roadmap’s plan to reduce gas emissions.
The overall goal of the roadmap is to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions in the buildings and industry sectors by 47 percent.
The study also believes that these renewable/low carbon gases will continue to grow throughout all of North America in the coming years.
Dr. Scott Stanners, the executive director of the Bioenergy network, expressed his pleasure with the collaborative effort on the study and the work that looks to bring these low carbon gases to BC.
Stanners also stated that these kinds of partnerships will help reach the goals set by the CleanBC Roadmap in 2030.
