Earlier today, the Provincial government announced that they are tabling Bill 13, which looks to amend the Passenger Transportation Act.
New amendments would make the record-check review process, which allows people to appeal decisions that prevent them from driving vehicles, become permanent.
In addition, the amendment will permanently put in place a requirement for passenger-directed vehicle drivers using temporary operating permits to complete full record checks.
The Passenger Transportation Act covers every driver of a commercial vehicle that carries passengers such as Taxis or limos.
These amendments are being made in an attempt to modernize the industry, make passengers safer and support the minister of transportation’s mandate.
