16 northern communities will benefit from a combined $1.9 million in newly announced HeritageBC grants.
That funding comes from the newest stream of the 150 Time Immemorial Grant Program, which handed out a total of $10 million, province-wide.
Three of the approved northern projects will take just under $1.4 million of that funding on their own.
$500,000 of that will go to the Tsi DelDel First Nation in the Central Cariboo to go towards a new wellness and cultural centre.
Another $500,000 will go to the Old Massett Village Council to help them construct a Haida heritage plaza.
And the Gitxaala Nation gets $395,000 for a longhouse and cultural centre.
