A new provincial program aims to provide municipalities, regional districts, and Modern Treaty First Nations with stable funding for climate initiatives.
Through CleanBC, a total of $76 million will be invested in the Local Government Climate Action Program over the next three years.
To be eligible, local governments must sign the BC Climate Action Charter, and demonstrate matching funding, or in-kind contributions to local climate initiatives, equal to 20 percent of provincial funds.
Funds will be destributed to eligible communities based on populations.
Governments will be required to provide proof that the funds were invested in projects which support the CleanBC Roadmap, or the Climate Preparedness and Adaptation Strategy.
