Nearly $35 million in fresh provincial funds are being invested to support the reclamation and revitalization of First Nations’ languages, culture, and heritage.
$25 million of that will go to the First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation over the next three years to support arts and culture programming.
Just over $7 million in new operational funding will also go to the First Peoples’ Cultural Council to support staffing, research, training, direct community supports, and more.
A separate $2.6 million will go specifically to the FPCC to boost the Youth Empowered Speakers Program, which provides First Nations students with one-on-one language training.
