Earlier today, Kitimat held a ceremony to celebrate the launch of the girders for the new Haisla Bridge that is still currently under construction.
After a pair of speeches started off the ceremony at the Kitimat Rod and Gun Club, those invited were able to go on a tour of both the construction site and notable areas around the town as well.
Kitimat’s mayor, Phil Germuth, talked about some of the major benefits that the new bridge will bring in his opening speech.
The Bridge is expected to be finished and opened to the public around this time next year and the old bridge is expected to be demolished not long after the opening.
