DFO has closed the Chinook fishery due to tidal waters around Prince Rupert.
The notice from the DFO says the closure will remain in place until July 15th at the very least and that they have also limited catches around Haida Gwaii.
The closure went into effect yesterday.
According to the order, One Chinook can be caught per day until July 15th in the tidal water around Haida Gwaii and off the west coast of the archipelago anglers.
The number will then increase to two Chinook per day on August 1st and then continue until March 31st next year.
The DFO says the closure is necessary in order to address on-going concerns over Skeena Chinook stocks.
