Kitimat Search and Rescue crews were called in to action on Friday evening to rescue a missing kayaker.
Crews first received word of the missing kayaker in the evening, after he failed to arrive at his predetermined pick-up location on time.
By then his kayak had been spotted, but the location and condition of the man, who was on the water solo, had not yet been determined.
After approximating the location of the kayak, SAR crews flew out at first light the next morning to locate its missing rider.
Two crew members were able to locate the kayaker along the river bank and safely extract him at around 4:30 Saturday morning.
However, his red kayak remains partially submerged, held by debris, around 600 metres above the Sawmill boat launch.
Those heading out on the water are advised to avoid the kayak and leave it where it is, and to contact RCMP if it moves.
Crews are thanking Kitimat RCMP, the Kitimat Fire Department, Terrace SAR and Quantum Helicopters for lending assistance in the rescue.
