BC will have a new Premier in 2024, after incumbent John Horgan announced today he would not be seeking reelection.
Horgan says that the issues currently facing the province will require a leader focused on the next two years and beyond.
Though he is doing well in his recovery from cancer treatment in November, the Premier says he can’t guarantee that will be the case in two years.
Over the next few days, Horgan will speak with MLAs an government officials to map out a succession plan moving forward.
Horgan, who took over the role in 2017, will stay on as Premier until a successor is chosen.
