Residents living in Masset as well as the surrounding Haida Gwaii area will soon be able to reap the benefits of three new infrastructure projects that are aiming to bolster local food production operations and tourism.
These projects will receive $1 million in funding via a StrongerBC rural development grant.
In terms of the individual projects, $540,000 will go towards an upgrade of Masset’s boat launch and seaplane terminal, $50,000 will be used to add the likes of kitchen equipment and exterior and interior finishing’s to Masset’s market, and finally, almost $370,000 will help out the year-round food-growing project conducted by Old Masset’s village council.
These projects are also apart of the StrongerBC Economic Plan, a plan which aims to deal with the issues of climate change and inequality in BC.
