A false alarm from, this weekend has Kitimat RCMP reminding boaters to notify people when they return from trips, and to leave a trip plan with someone.
That comes after police received a call of a boater on the Douglas Channel who was out past his usual return time.
RCMP requested assistance from the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue to locate the overdue boater.
It was later discovered that the boater had returned home sometime earlier, but had not notified anyone of his return.
Police are advising boaters to create a trip plan to leave with someone in the event they require assistance on the water.
