It was announced earlier today that the BC Ferry Services Board has handed their President and CEO Mark Collins his walking papers.
After spending 18 years with BC Ferries and the last 5 as CEO, Collins was fired from his position due to a large string of ferry cancellations and staffing shortages.
While the company looks for a permanent replacement, they have appointed their chief financial officer, Jill Sharland, as their interim President and CEO.
According to a statement from the company, Collins invested in upgrades to terminals, implemented a new fare flexibility model and made significant investments in fleet renewal during his time as CEO.
But the recent difficulties with operations that the company had been dealing with lead to the board dismissing Collins.
