BC Housing is looking to gather public feedback on a newly proposed supportive housing project in Quesnel.
That proposal would see 45 new supportive housing units built at the Ramada Hotel at 383 St Laurent Avenue, including up to 15 shelter spaces and 10 extreme weather response spaces.
If approved, the new permanent site would provide accommodation for community members at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
Existing programs offered at their Season’s House and Grace Inn locations would be relocated to the new Laurent Avenue site.
After that, both shelters would be closed, opening the lots to fill other community needs.
If the project does not go through, residents at the temporary Grace Inn shelter, opened during the pandemic, would be displaced when their lease runs up next spring.
In order to advance the project, BC Housing has applied for a rezoning of the site, which council gave first reading to this week.
You can submit feedback through this link, ahead of a public hearing set for September 13th.
