Kitimat RCMP are reminding residents that alcohol and cars don’t mix, after responding to multiple related incidents over the past week.
Last Friday, police were called out to a collision which left two vehicles in the ditch along Highway 37, south of Kitimat.
When they arrived on scene, they noticed the scent of alcohol on one of the drivers, and transported them to the detachment for an impairment check.
They were later released on orders to appear in court, while the driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Then, on Tuesday, officers were conducting patrols on Loganberry Street when they noticed four individuals with opened alcohol bottles inside an idling vehicle.
The very next day, police were patrolling the same area when they observed another group consuming alcohol inside a vehicle.
In both cases, the occupants were issued violation tickets and the remaining alcohol was poured out.
