Three projects in the North are among 8 benefiting from $5 million in fresh provincial funding to help build stronger local economies.
Each of the funded projects support tourism, community revitalization, and infrastructure upgrades in rural and Indigenous communities.
$1 million will help the City of Prince Rupert rehabilitate the CN Heritage Rail Station as part of a larger effort to revitalize the waterfront.
Just under $880,000 will go to the Nuxalk Nation to help them re-establish the Bella Coola Kimsquit Ooligan Grease Trail to drive pandemic economic recovery.
And the ?Esdilagh First Nation will get $410,000 for phase one of their abattoir project, which will support the slaughter of up to 30 cattle and smaller animals per day.
