Customers of government-run BC Liquor Stores will face new limitations as BC’s largest public service employee union continues to strike.
Earlier this week, the BC General Employees’ Union, who represent more than 33,000 public service workers, began targetted job action.
After months of failed negotiations, picket lines were set up out front of a number of Liquor Distribution Centres, whose employees are represented by the union.
Now, in an effort to maintain their stock, government-run liquor stores are set to limit customers to no more than three of any one type of alcohol, with the exception of beer.
Those limitations will also extend to bars, pubs, and restaurants licensed by BC’s Alliance of Beverage Licensees.
Private-owned liquor stores, however, will not be implementing the restrictions.
