Two new rounds of fresh funding for communities in the northwest was announced yesterday in Prince Rupert.
Minister of International Development Harjit (HAR-EET) S Sajjan announced that two investments will be made into the Pacific Economic Development Agency, which Sajjan is also responsible for.
$2.6 million came through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund going towards 8 projects, and $297,498 through the Tourism Relief Fund for 3 projects.
All of the announced projects will help to improve both infrastructure and tourism experiences that focus on exploring the natural environment.
Before the announcement, a short walk was taken to reveal the future trailhead for the Cloudberry trail, which received 5 hundred thousand dollars of the funding.
That announcement comes in addition to the future construction of trails in Gitwinksihlkw, a playground replacement in Telkwa, and a variety of others.
