Lightning and heat typically have been to blame for most new fires and as a result, wildfire crews have been busy in the Northwest Fire Centre lately.
Of the 19 fires currently burning in the Centre, 6 are listed as out of control and one is listed as new, suspected to be caused by lightning.
Two small lightning caused fires are burning south of Tesla Lake, near Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, while four more are burning just north of there near Watuk Lake, St Thomas Bay, and the Nechako Reservoir near Tahtsa Lake.
A couple of blazes have gotten under control as of late, including one fire near Nigunsaw River which is now listed as held.
And even with another newer fire burning at the confluence of the Morice River and Gosnell Creek being listed as under control now, another new fire has popped up near the area supposedly thanks to more lightning and has prompted an evacuation alert for the area.
