With multiple Federal and Provincial ministers in attendance, it was announced that joint funding from BC, the Federal Government as well as Indigenous communities and regional district recipients, has been committed to help four BC communities with new and existing community spaces.
The funding splits will see the provincial government invest over $2.3 million into these projects, the communities and recipients will provide over $2.8 million and the federal government will be shelling out over $5.8 million.
One of the main recipients of this funding will be the Cariboo Regional District as they will get $458,200 in total to expand the region’s wheelchair-accessible wilderness trails network by developing three new trails.
