Students and their families in BC who need some support when it comes to paying for a return to school because of rising costs of living will be getting some help from the Province.
$60 million in funding from the Student and Family Affordability Fund will provide assistance to school districts so that they can properly feed their students as well as make sure that they have proper school supplies.
These funds are expected to go directly to the school districts in order to expand their meal programs, supply students all the necessary school supplies and even cover costs so that students can fully participate in activities like field trips.
$3.8 million in funding will also be given out via the Federation of Independent School Associations to help families deal with increasing costs as well as those who access education through independent school authorities.
These funds are one part of several measures that will be done to assist people who need the most help with inflating costs.
