In order to recognize the new annual holiday of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, the City of Quesnel will be displaying Orange Every Child Matters banners every September.
The location of said banners will be in Quesnel’s downtown core.
Thanks to a partnership between the Lhtako Dene First Nation and the City, they were able to use the Orange Shirt Society Every Child Matters logo for the design on the banners.
These banners were created to honor residential school survivors and reaffirm that both the survivors and the ones who didn’t make it home, matter very much.
It was also noted that the City and the nation will be working together on other projects as well.
