With school starting up once again for post-secondary students, the BC government is doing work to create safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces for them.
Namely, the government will be providing $500,000 to post-secondary institutions so that they will be able to address sexualized violence.
The funding will also be used to further improve the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Training Series and help address the safety of students, specifically Indigenous, graduate and international students.
The provincial government is hopeful these funds lead to systemic change as to how students, teachers and other staff respond to these crimes.
An additional $500,000 was also recently given out in order to enhance sexualized violence reporting systems in schools as well.
