Assembly of First Nations National Chief RoseAnne Archibald will be among a slew of Canadian leaders travelling to London for the Queen’s funeral on Monday.
Archibald will be joined by Métis National Council President Cassidy Caron, and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami President Natan Obed.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will also be in attendance, alongside former PM’s Jean Chrétien, Kim Campbell, Paul Martin, and Stephen Harper.
A number of other delegates will also be departing for England on Friday to pay their respects for Queen Elizabeth II.
In Canada, Monday will be marked with a National Holiday for Federally-regulated employees, which is being partially matched by BC.
For BC, public K-12 schools, post secondary institutions, and government institutions such as ICBC, Canada Post, Passport Services, and both Federal and Provincial Courts will be closed.
Despite that, the day is not being pegged as a stat holiday, meaning for most private sector workers, it’ll be up to the employer to determine whether or not they get the day off.
