With cooler weather, precipitation and higher humidity, the evacuation order for the wildfire nearby Hudson’s Hope was lifted a couple of days ago.
Most of the District’s roughly 900 residents had to be sent to Fort St John, following the evacuation orders, but they have since been allowed to return home although the order could be put back into place if conditions worsen again.
The orders were prompted by a currently over 30,000-hectare blaze burning just west of the community in Battleship Mountain.
BC Wildfire crews used infrared technology to scan and map the fire’s perimeter, and used a number of planned burns to restrict its growth.
