Earlier today, the Federal Government made sure to recognize the significance of Canada’s early radio broadcasting.
Canada’s first ever radio broadcast began with the station XWA in Montreal in 1918 before a public system was created in 1932.
As a result of said system, Canada went through a phase of being all about radio and ultimately, the new mass communication industry would dramatically alter the way Canadians consumed news and entertainment.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Steven Guilbeault, commemorated Canada’s earliest era of broadcasting through the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.
