With the help of a new Provincial funding program, Indigenous communities and businesses in BC that want to increase their food security will soon have a chance to grow their farming and food-processing operations.
The name of this new program is the Indigenous Food Systems and Agriculture Partnership Program and it will provide up to $80,000 to Indigenous-led projects that benefit their own community, the environment or increase food security.
Funds can be used for activities involving training and skills development, technological adoption, agriculture, food processing and food systems planning.
First Nations communities, organizations and businesses are eligible to apply for funds while both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations will be considered.
The time that applications will be able to be made is between September 26th and October 31st.
