Carrier Sekani Family Services Chief Executive Officer Warner Adam is set to receive an honourary degree from the University of Northern BC next month.
A member of the Lake Babine Nation, Adam is also the founding president of the BC Aboriginal Child Care Society, and has served two terms as the deputy chair of the First Nations Health Council.
Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous UNBC researchers on studies related to health disparities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
Alongside Dr Cindy Blackstock, he is also an executive producer on the film ‘For Love’, which documents the atrocities committed against Indigenous families under Canada’s child welfare system.
Adam will be presented with his honorary Doctor of Laws degree at a ceremony at the University’s Prince George campus on October 21st.
