Funding allocated for new storm drainage on Kenney street

Construction will soon be underway on 65 metres of storm drainage along the east portion of Kenney street.

$92,000 will be allocated for the project from the Northern Capital Planning Grant Reserve and will be constructed by Progressive Ventures.

The project comes after the city acquired their 5 percent land entitlement from NSD development on the adjacent 4800 block of Keith.

Just 2 percent of the acquired land will be used in the construction, whereas the remaining 3 percent was given to the city as a cash contribution.

While there was the option to redirect the flow through an existing ditch on Keith, the new plan was made to maximize park space by filling in the ditch.
