Four engagement sessions are being held in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii over the next two months, as the North Coast Regional District seeks feedback on their Solid Waste Management Plan.
Currently, the District is in the third of four steps in the planning phase of upgrading the plan, which was initially adopted in 1996.
But, since then, the District’s needs have changed significantly, with 628 kigs of solid waste being produced per person in 2019, compared to the provincial average of 501.
Their new plan looks to: improve operational and financial efficiency, improve participation in waste segregation programs, upgrade facilities and services, expand rural delivery, and more.
Engagement sessions are being held from 3:30 to 6:00 at the Old Massett Community Hall on October 24th, the Daajing Giids Community Hall on the 25th, the Prince Rupert Library on the 28th, and online on November 2nd.
