A new advisory council that will look to support forestry workers and communities in BC has just been created by the Provincial Government.
This council will be known as the Forestry Worker Supports and Community Resiliency Council and their main purpose is to advise the Province on improving programs and creating new ones that support forestry workers and the economic resiliency of rural communities.
This council will ensure that the Province makes these programs targeted, effective and tailored to community needs and priorities.
Parliamentary Secretary for Forests, Doug Routley, will act as Chairman of the council and it will include 18 members from broad sectors of BC, including local government, Indigenous communities, forest industry and labour representatives, academics, and non-governmental organizations.
