In an announcement from earlier today, it was revealed that multiple local and Regional airports in BC are going to be getting funding in order to improve safety.
In total, over $14 million is being sent the way of these airports through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program in order to pay for projects and equipment that will keep airport operations safe for passengers, crews, and airport workers.
As for fund distribution, Fort St John will get $217,360 to buy a sweeper, Terrace will receive $516,812 in total to buy a sweeper and a mobile equipment shelter, Masset will get $877,605 for a loader with attachments and a 4×4 snow plow truck, Williams Lake will get $502,200 for a medium-sized snowblower, $8,025,527 will go the way of Powell River to to rehabilitate Runway 09-27, $224,350 will go to Nanaimo to buy a 4×4 snowplow truck, Cranbrook will receive $1,946,837 to also get a 4×4 snowplow truck and rehabilitate airfield electrical systems and Tofino will be get $2,594855 to replace wildlife control fencing as well as to construct a sand and equipment shelter.
