Three property crime suspects were arrested by the Quesnel RCMP after their stolen vehicle rolled over multiple times on Highway 97, south of Quesnel.
Back on Monday at around 6:20 AM, Quesnel Police got a report of a theft of a 2000 Ford F-350 from a motel on Front Street.
About an hour later, this stolen truck was used to steal a boat and boat trailer from the Lakeview Crescent area, but the thieves didn’t properly attach the trailer to the truck and as a result, it fell off the hitch and was recovered in a nearby yard.
Then at around 7:50 AM, the suspects then tried to steal a UTV from a rural property in Alexandria and when the property owner tried to stop them, the stolen truck collided with the owner’s vehicle and after being chased by the owner south on the highway, a second collision occurred at a rest stop.
The stolen vehicle then drove north on Highway 97, and ended up rolling over several times in the west ditch.
Two of the suspects suffered non life threatening injuries from the crash while the third one led the police on another wild chase before eventually being caught after swimming through the Fraser River.
The results of the investigation will be given to the BC Prosecution Service to assess the charges for all three suspects.
