Police were likely not expecting a car chase to ensue when they pulled over to help a stranded vehicle near Mackenzie last week.
RCMP stumbled across the vehicle, pulled over with its four-ways on along Highway 39 at around 9:00 last Wednesday night.
When officers attempted to pull over, the vehicle fled, prompting them to run its Alberta plates and discover that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
Police were forced to suspend their pursuit after the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic, and began patrols to locate the vehicle.
Shortly afterwards, the car was located along Highway 97, and again began to flee when police arrived.
This time, however, the vehicle ended up flipping into the ditch after losing control while driving at a cop car head-on.
Both of the vehicles occupants were arrested, with the driver facing non-life threatening injuries.
No police were harmed, and an investigation is still underway.
