Terrace’s new mayor has outlined his priorities and they appear to be similar to the ones of the past administration.
Sean Bujtas went onto say that the one thing that would help solve some of the financial problems Terrace is facing is the resource revenue sharing deal with the provincial government.
Bujtas also pointed out that other regions have an agreement in place, but for some reason, negotiations haven’t produced a deal in the northwest.
Both homelessness and crime are high priorities on his agenda and he noted that with a shortage of medical personnel, fully staffing the new hospital could be hard.
Terrace requires 28 fulltime doctors, but is currently falling short of that number and many nurses are currently leaving the profession due to COVID and the general stresses of the job day to day.
All the corrective measures needed at the moment require money so, Bujtas says he will be talking with and possibly taking additional trips to Victoria to grab the attention of the ministers responsible.
Bujtas stated that you have to first need to admit there are problems before you can move forward and according to him, the previous council has done that and now the new council is ready to take on the challenges.
