New funding is going to allow more Métis citizens to access support to gain job-ready skills training.
$7.1 Million in funding was announced earlier today by Anne Kang, B.C.’s Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, and it will be for skills training aimed towards Métis learners.
Some of the programs the funding will be available for includes apprenticeships, trades, skills upgrades, certificates and re-certifications, micro-credentials and more.
The funding is expected to build upon a milestone from September of this year, when the Métis Nation of British Columbia supported more than 1,825 training and post-secondary education requests by Métis citizens, a historic number for the organization.
