Rio Tinto has funded the purchase of a new vehicle to help support the establishment of a new after-school child care program in Kitimat.
That purchase is part of a partnership with Coast Mountain Children’s Society, who launched the program this month in response to a growing need for child care in the community.
With Rio Tinto’s $88,000 investment, they were able to purchase a 15-passenger van, which will be used to pick up children after school.
As a result, the Society is able to offer extended service hours, while giving parents an additional option to find child care.
