A province-wide enforcement campaign removed 5 impaired drivers from the roads around Williams Lake in one night last week.
Last Wednesday, members of the Williams Lake RCMP and Highway Patrol units set up 6 checkstops around the City for the Light up the Highways event.
In total, officers checked some 300 vehicles, ultimately catching 5 impaired drivers and removing both them and their vehicles from the roads.
To help people get home safely this holiday season, the Williams Lake RCMP are also sponsoring Operation Red Nose, a volunteer safe-ride service.
Through that program, residents can call 250 392 2222 Friday and Saturday nights through December for a safe ride home.
