Today marks the first ever celebration of International Workers’ Day in BC.
The month’s focus is on the rights of workers around the world.
Minister of Labour Harry Bains says he workers accomplish great things in our province every day and deserve to do so in a safe, comfortable environment.
He says that he is working to guarantee safe, respectful work environments, strong prevention and enforcement measures, and to enact laws and policies that ensure the safety of all occupations.
Bains closed by saying all workers deserve to return home safe, healthy, and with a feeling of accomplishment following a long day’s work.
