The provincial government has launched the first phase of its comprehensive review in to BC Hydro.
Cost control and rate stabilizations are the focus of this phase of the two phase process.
An advisory panel will be created with members from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance, and BC Hydro to research cost savings measures that will ensure BC Hydro still has the resources it needs to create clean fuel.
Recommendations from the panel are expected to weigh heavily on a new rates plan being filed in February of next year.
Phase two will focus on climate change and maximizing new opportunities and will begin some time in late 2018.
