The company behind a proposed LNG development in Kitimat says the decision of whether or not to forge ahead will be up to its joint venture partners.
LNG Canada CEO Andy Calitz was quoted by Business In Vancouver Wednesday as saying Final Investment Decision documents were being prepared and construction would be begin this year
In a statement issued Thursday, LNG Canada says Calitz simply confirmed that the that the consortium is working to have materials ready for mid-2018 to provide the project’s joint venture participants for a final investment decision.
LNG Canada says if the decision is a positive one, construction would begin immediately after.
But officials say the final investment decision, and when it comes down, will be up to LNG Canada’s joint venture partners to make.
