The McKay Street Park Playground project received a substantial cheque Wednesday as CityWest donated $10,000 to the project.
CityWest threw its hat in the ring after seeing a Facebook post from Transition Prince Rupert.
Transition Prince Rupert eventually wants to see a cultural centre, skate park, basketball pavilion, dog park, nature play area, picnic grounds, and a public square for the city of Prince Rupert and its residents.
“We’re happy to make this donation, because we feel that this project will benefit the community. It also aligns with our philanthropic efforts to help people in the North do great things,” said CityWest CEO Chris Marett.
Last summer, Prince Rupert won the BCAA PlayHere contest which saw Transition Prince Rupert get $100,000 to build the project playground.
