The province’s independent police watchdog has filed a report to the BC Prosecution Service regarding a crash involving a Prince Rupert RCMP officer last year.
The officer’s vehicle struck a pedestrian at the corner of Second Avenue West and Ninth Street around 10 p.m. March 26th, leaving the man with serious injuries, including a broken leg.
The Independent Investigations Office says it has completed its review of the file and forwarded it to the prosecution service for consideration of charges.
In a news release, the IIO says the BC Prosecution Service must be satisfied there is a substantial likelihood of conviction based on evidence gathered by the IIO and that the prosecution is in the public interest.
